Dr Rina Maguire, BVSc Hons 1 Dip ABVP ECM

Avian and Exotic Pet Veterinary Specialist

Dr Rina Maguire has more than 10 years’ experience working with birds, exotic species and wildlife. She is a Diplomat of the American board of Veterinary Practitioners certified in Exotic Companion Mammal practice. She graduated from Sydney University in 2006 and then proceeded with her specialist training in the New York. She has worked in referral and specialist avian and exotic animal only hospitals in Manhattan and Long Island, New York. Dr Rina was most recently a Zoo and Avian Veterinarian at Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park for two and a half years. Dr Rina has also presented at multiple national and international exotic pet conferences in the US, Korea and Singapore and she has published many scientific articles including in the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine.

Dr Athena Lim, BSc, BVMS

Resident Veterinarian
(Pursuing Board Specialist Certification in Exotic Companion Mammals)

Dr Athena Lim graduated from Murdoch University, Australia in 2018 and has been practicing veterinary medicine with a focus in exotics in Singapore since. During her university days Dr Athena developed a strong interest and passion in both avian and exotics medicine, which led her to volunteering and interning at different exotics clinics and zoos in Asia-pacific countries. Dr Athena was awarded The Unusual Pet Vet Prize by Murdoch University for her outstanding interest and commitment in exotics medicine when she graduated.

Dr Ellen Kate Rasidi, BiomedSc, BSc(Vet)(Hons), BVSc

Veterinarian

My initial education and interest was in neuroscience, and this led to an interest in animal behaviour and intelligence, particularly of birds, and an appreciation for the communication and bonds between humans and birds. This then lead me to appreciate the need to provide high-quality care for these intelligent and emotional animals that share our lives, which then lead me to work as a veterinary nurse for an Avian Veterinary Specialist in Australia, and then back to university to complete my veterinary training, with the intention of becoming an avian veterinarian, and one day a Specialist as well.

Dr Vicente Gonzalo Soler Rubio, DVM, MSc, Dipl. ECZM (Small Mammal)

Consultant Exotic Animal Medicine & Surgery

Dr Vicente Gonzalo Soler Rubio is an internationally trained veterinary professional with advanced qualifications in small mammal and exotic animal medicine and surgery. He brings valuable specialist insight to Beecroft,consulting the clinical team in the management of complex and challenging cases.

In his role as a consultant, Dr Vicente works collaboratively with Beecroft’s licensed attending veterinarians, providing expert opinions, advanced case discussion and technical guidance within his area of expertise. This team-based approach enhances clinical decision-making while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Where clinically appropriate, Dr Vicente may assist with specialised procedures related to his field of expertise as part of a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

Our veterinary nurses and support staff play a vital role in patient care, providing skilled assistance, monitoring, and compassionate support throughout every stage of treatment and recovery.
